Manual Therapy

Manual therapy, in relation to physiotherapy, refers to a clinical approach in which specific, hands-on techniques are utilised to assess and treat a range of musculoskeletal problems. At Macintosh Physiotherapy we believe without a “hands-on” approach you cannot gain a full awareness of a client’s condition. There is a lot of sensory information a therapist gains through this approach, and it enables a much better treatment outcome. Techniques include joint palpation and mobilisation, passive physiological movements, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue mobilisation and active-assisted exercises.
